Big Lil' Ducky

I got a custom order to recreate the ducky hat I made for the hospital back in October 2007, but in a larger size. This little guy turned out even cuter than the origonal!

He's made out of Caron's Simply Soft Yarn. I must admit, this is one of my favorite yarns to use. It's acrylic, machine washable (we all know that with kids, you don't have time to hand wash everything they get dirty). Plus its very durable, this hat should last her friend's little girl for years. The absolute best part about this yarn though. The reason I use it so much, is it's actually very soft. I'm very picky when it comes to what touches my skin. I can't stand hats, scarfs, blankets, etc. made of itchy scratchy yarn. *cough* Red Heart *cough* ;)

Custom Orders Galore!

Boy has it been a while since I posted... been pretty busy lately. Anyway it was my birthday about a week ago. Yaay I'm 20!

The other big news is that I got some custom orders for my shop: Two hats and a pendant! One of the hats is finished (I just need to take pics of it) the other hat is still in progress. The pendant is fully completed. The woman wanted a piece of lace (that she supplied) to be enclosed between two pieces of glass with a pearl hanging from the bottom. I'm quite pleased with it :)

Foster Kitty

If you've read previous posts, you know my sister's girlfriend works at a no-kill cat shelter called Simply Cats. Unfortunately they don't have the resources to care for the very young kittens because they need so much attention, so they foster the kittens out. My mom brought home 5 kittens over the weekend, unfortunately we had to ask the shelter to find another foster home for the litter of 4 because it was a little more then we could handle (never having fostered kittens before). We did however keep one of the kittens. They named her Mindy, but mom didn't like this and re-named her to something else (I don't remember what though, she changes her mind like every other day).

BellasCandles Soy Whipped Body Butters

I bought three of BellasCandles 1 oz. body butters and they just got here last night. I have to admit at first I was a little skeptical when I read that they don't leave that nasty greasy feeling most lotions do, and $2.00 for 1 oz, I thought that was a little steep. It ended up working out to $2.00 because I also bought the third jar was only $0.20, the listing cost on Etsy. But I thought, "What the hell, why not? I need something to keep my hands from drying out..."

Anyways, they’re here now. They really don't leave that nasty greasy feeling! As for the price, 1 oz turns out to be a lot. You only need to use a tiny little bit every time you use it. It was definitely worth the $2.00 a jar.

These are the scents I got and what I think of them:

Romantic Roses: I like this one. It doesn't smell perfumey at all, it actually smells like roses. Its very subtle and not sickeningly sweet. Its kinda like carrying a rose around with you, only minus the bees ;)

Wild Honeysuckle: This one smells perfumey to me; its a little strong. This could just be me however; my aunt loves it and instantly recognized it as honeysuckle. Once on your hands its a bit strong for awhile, but tones itself down a bit and then smells absolutely lovely.

Coconut Milk and Peaches: Oh My God! This one is amazing! I had to stop myself from eating it when it came out of the jar, it smells so much like real peaches and coconut. This is definitely my favorite of the three I tried.

Mohair Arm Warmers

These are some arm warmers I just finished making out of some absolutely goreous mohair. ^-^ Unfortunately the scalloped edging sort of got lost in the yarn, but they still look really neat. At first the mohair felt itchy to me, but after working with it for a bit it doens't feel itchy at all. The part that covers your fingers only goes up to about the knuckles and the thumb hole is wider then most. This should provide as little restriction as possible when wearing them :)

Ok, so the knitting machine I was telling you about... these two things came with it. I have no idea what they are... I didn't get anything that looks even remotely similat to these...

Vintage Knitting Machine

A couple of weekends ago, my mom found this knitting machine at a garage sale for $2.00. We're still working on figuring out how it works, the carriage is alot different from the ones they make now...

Sonic the Hedgeypig!!!

My boyfriend told me we should get some animal friendly dye and dye hedgeypig blue and call him sonic. I told him no :P instead, I edited this photo so be hedgeypig! Go Go Go Sonic the Hedgeypig!!!

Biopsy Results

So... the biopsy results are in. I have IgA Nephropthy. The doctor said the surprising thing is that there is a lot of scarring in the kidney, which means this has been going on for awhile. I have to take blood pressure medication to prevent more damage to the kidneys. I'll let you know more when I know more.

Hedgy Pig

My sister and her girlfriend got a hedgehog a few months ago. I finally managed to get a good pic of him. Our longhair dachshund, Toby, is nearly having a heart attack trying to get to Hedgypig.

I Live!

Yesterday I had a kidney biopsy. Just throught I would let everyone know: I Survived! Not without some new scrapes and bruises :P Nice big hole in my back and bruise in my arm from the IV. But alive I am.

Etsy Mini Problem

Ok so for a couple of months everyone has been complaining that etsy mini has changed (its the thing on the side of my blog that shows the items from my store). Anyway, it started to bug me too considering it probably shouldn't be too hard to fix. Anyway... I looked into it, found the problem, emailed the admin's the solution. They sent me an auto responce saying they would get to it in 3-4 days. It's been 3 or 4 days. Still not fixed! It just bugs me because it was easy to find the solution, only took me a couple of hours.

Pi Pie

As you may or may not know, yesterday was international Pi Day. In celebration, we all brought pie to work yesterday and ate it at 1:59. Pi is 3.14159, so we were eating pie on 3/14 1:59. One of the guys at work made his own pie to bring in and the steam vent was in the shape of Pi.

Machine Knit Baby Booties

I just made these today :) They only took me an hour or two! I think I might add a little pink bow or something, just to give them a hint of color... Maybe a little red rose?

Stripey Socks

Wow! It's been awhile since I posted. I finally broke down and bought myself a knitting machine this is my first pair of socks on it! I won't be selling these, I'm giving them to my sister. But if you would like a pair don't hesitate to ask :)

Lemon Pie Earrings

I uploaded these yummy little treats today to my etsy store for $8.50. These are the first pair I've used the gold earring loops I bought. Let me know what you think :D

Blue Baby Booties!!

I've made another pair of baby booties. These are a little smaller, They are aproximately 2.75-3 inches long. I'm going to be listing them on esty soon, so keep an eye out!

Baby Booties

These hand knit baby booties are machine washable and dryable and sized 0-6 months. They are cream colored with golden yellow straps. The strap is set at an angle to help them stay on your babys little tooties better. I plan on making some more of these so let me know what you think!
